We are a Surf and Stand Up Paddle Board School & Hire Centre located on the promenade at the lower cliff lift entrance at West Cliff Beach in Whitby.

Whitby Surf School provides qualified and passionate instructors that are friendly, fun and will keep you safe. We are fully inclusive and offer lessons to suit all abilities, whether you’re catching your first wave or you want to brush up on your techniques.

Whether you’re here for a surf lesson, stand up paddleboard safari or to hire from our top class equipment, we will strive to make your experience memorable and unique.

Staying COVID Secure

Due to Covid 19 there are a few changes we have made to help keep our customers and staff safe at Whitby Surf School.

Changing areas must remain closed - please come prepared, eg bring a towel! Unfortunately personal belongings wont be able to be stored inside the surf school.
We have updated our lesson plans and safety measures to reflect social distancing - You must be able to swim 50m and be confident in open water
Currently we can offer lessons with a maximum of 5 people to 1 instructor - Social distancing must be adhered to at all times
A self declaration of health form must be completed before each session by each customer
We will be working to rotate and clean equipment, antibacterial wipes will be available for you to clean your equipment before and after use and hand sanitizer will be available to customers to use
