The quaint village of Sandsend is situated two
miles north of Whitby, North Yorkshire. Nestling under Lythe Bank and
Mulgrave Woods, Sandsend not only boasts a wonderful sandy beach with
fossil-rich rock pools, stripey windbreaks and a popular beach walk to
Whitby, but also a pretty valley where you will find ducks in the beck,
and goats tethered on the grass. The village has several teashops,
excellent restaurants, two pubs and a good shop. There is a regular bus
service to Whitby and to Runswick Bay to the north.
The Porthole luxury suite offers a romantic B&B getaway for two
adults in an independent building. A bedroom with a 6 foot bed, cosy
sitting room, bath and shower room and a small kitchenette makes this an
ideal retreat. Breakfast will be left for you to have at your leisure
either looking out to sea through the picture french window or on your
own private terrace with stunning sea view. Unfortunately The Porthole
does not accept pets. There is free WiFi.
The Porthole is an independent building in the grounds of Beacon Hill with its own private entrance and car parking.
You can look directly out to sea or along the beach towards Whitby Abbey either through the large French windows or from your own private terrace. The garden offers a further relaxation area or a special place to sip a glass of wine whilst sitting on the swing seat looking along the beach.
The Porthole is let on a B & B basis for adults only (the Porthole is not suitable for children) with a delicious continental breakfast (with home-made preserves, fruit etc.) left in the kitchenette for you to help yourself at your leisure (no time keeping to adhere to - have breakfast at 11am if you wish). If our hens are laying you can enjoy fresh laid boiled eggs with your breakfast.
