I live in the Whitby area, where members of my family have lived for several generations.

After

training in the Arts I taught, then gained other qualifications and

worked in the museums and arts sector, running a 17th century historic

house educational museum. For more than 15 years I was an associate and

then principal of our historic buildings consultancy. I painted and

exhibited when I could, but finally, longing to return to my roots, I

gave up the 'day job' and came 'home' to paint full time.

I gain my inital ideas working

outside, filling books and bits of paper with sketches in pencil, paint

or pen, returning to my workshop to develop them into finished

paintings.

I'm a member of Whitby Art Society

and the Eskvale Painting Group with whom I also exhibit annually. For

several years I exhibited in ArtsBank Saltburn (now, sadly, closed) as

well as in Artisanne (Darlington) and the Joe Cornish Gallery

(Northallerton).

My work can sometimes be seen in 'The Picture Place', Wykeham, Scarborough (they do superb framing as well!)

You can also buy cards of some of my work.
