Set back from the road, where there is ample on-street parking, the cottage is accessed over a stepping-stone path leading up to the garden gate and through to the stable-style front door.
The front door leads directly into the kitchen dining room with oak-style flooring, a lovely rustic table with 2 benches and a log-burning stove set within an original old fireplace. The kitchen area comprises a Belfast sink and built-in appliances including a Bosch 4-ring ceramic hob with extractor fan above, an electric fan oven and grill, dishwasher and fridge (please note there is a separate counter-top freezer in the laundry room) plus a kettle, toaster and Tassimo coffee-maker.A door from the kitchen leads directly through into the lounge with wood floor and two large, comfortable sofas, a sideboard and a further multi-fuel stove. For your entertainment, there is a large Samsung SmartTV with Sky, a DVD player and an extensive collection of DVDs. The lounge is light and airy, having 2 windows to the front aspect of the cottage, both of which overlook the pretty garden and have further views out to the dramatic headland at Ravenscar.Beyond the lounge is a door leading into the shower room which is fully tiled and comprises a large walk-in shower with heated towel rail, a wash basin with a vanity unit beneath and a WC.An important note to emphasise here is that there are 2 separate staircases in Colcott Cottage (one leading to the master bedroom & twin bedroom, and the other leading up to a second double bedroom) and there is no connecting door between the two halves of the upper floor..
A door from the kitchen leads up a wooden staircase to the larger part of the upper floor which accommodates the master bedroom and the twin bedroom. The charming master bedroom is fully carpeted and has a king-size heavy oak bed with a matching chest of drawers and bedside tables. There is a small hanging rail and a further wardrobe cupboard on the small landing. The main window looks out over the garden and onwards to the Ravenscar headland and there is another smaller window to the side elevation overlooking a lawned bank.Across the landing is the twin bedroom which comprises 2 cabin beds with drawers and cupboards beneath, bedside tables and night lights. The velux window has a very effective black-out blind - useful for helping young children stay asleep in 4am sunshine! Although geared towards children, these cabin beds are 6'6" in length so could also comfortably accommodate small adults. The other part of the upper floor is accessed from the lounge via a unique and very old, narrow staircase. This bedroom has a king-size Gothic style metal-framed bed with a chest of drawers and a small space for hanging clothes. The wide low window allows the light to flood in and affords the same views over the garden and further on to Ravenscar.
Unlike many properties in Robin Hood's Bay, Colcott Cottage has a truly delightful garden as well as lovely views. The whole of the garden is flat and comprises a large, sunken, gravelled patio area with a garden dining table, 6 chairs and umbrella. There are mature flower and shrub beds and an extensive lawned area, all with views across to Ravenscar. At the bottom of the garden is a building which houses the games room and a full-size table-tennis table. Beyond the games room, and hidden from the cottage, is a single sun-lounger; perfect for stealing some time away for yourself. To the side of the garden is a covered area, perfect for barbecuing and for storing body boards, wet suits and walking boots. There is also a fully-equipped laundry room comprising a washing machine, tumble-dryer and sink.
Colcott Cottage is a beautifully-presented and picturesque cottage that evokes times past while still offering the trappings of modern life. Along with the thoughtful and practical use of the outbuildings, the garden and seating area, it is an equally perfect choice for a memorable family holiday
